Things in Themselves? How to Study Natural Science Objects Ethnographically?
Open discussion session with:
Time: Friday October 24, 4 – 6 pm
Place: Ethnographic Exploratory (EE), CSS 4.1.12, Øster Farimagsgade 5, Copenhagen
How might someone, who is not her-/himself a natural scientist, study something that in the classic divisions among the sciences is taken to be a natural-science object? Drawing on the presenters’ own on-going attempts to ethnographically study and write about phenomena divided more over less awkwardly between natural and social scientists – either because they are contested between them, or because the natural sciences occupy the imagined base on top of which social scientists are added – this discussion session explores some of the possibilities, and tackles some of the tough problems, of doing ethnography in/of nature(s).
The session is open to all. Contact Anders Blok (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Morten Axel Pedersen (email@example.com) if you want to receive preparatory texts in advance (reading is optional).
