Public panel discussion: From policy to practice – data management and infrastructure

Welcome to the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies, 7 February 2018, 14.00-17.00, followed by reception.
Recent years have seen a steady increase in policy statements from national and international bodies concerning the management of scientific data. From the European Open Science Cloud to the recent Swedish Research Council review of infrastructures, policy is becoming practice with important implications for scientific facilities, researchers, funding bodies and technical experts.
Large research facilities like MAX IV and ESS provide opportunities for groundbreaking scientific work that eventually leads to innovation and economic growth. Making experiments work, however, is a complex and challenging task, where technical expertise and organisation are crucial. A demand for tools that can provide user-friendly access to large and complex data sets, coupled with the increasingly rigorous policy demands for FAIR data management, point to a need for sophisticated infrastructures to support scientific research.
Welcome to a public panel discussion on data management and infrastructure with representatives from ESS, the Swedish Research Council, the UK Science & Technology Facilities Council and the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid.
Registration is required. Read more about the event and register here.
